March for Science                                                                  April 22, 2017

On Earth Day, April 22, 2017, tens of thousands of people marched in the United States in support of science based public policy, with many more marching worldwide. 40,000 marched in Washington DC, and 10,000 marched in Austin. From Georgetown, many lovers of National Parks, defenders against climate change, and just plain appreciators of what science has done for their lives went to participate in Austin. But wait! That’s not all. Some marched in Georgetown.

Trish Lopacki led a contingent from the Sun City Democrat Club to join Georgetown community members and Southwestern faculty and students at the square. (More pictures below.)

Trish reported:

Our team’s turnout far surpassed all others and made the March a huge success in the eyes of the Southwestern University coordinators. I loved seeing all the SCDs showing up with their signs and their energy. Without you, there may have been a quarter of the participation and it just wouldn’t have been as notable or memorable. Thank you so much everyone who marched at the first, ever, March for Science on Earth Day! So very Proud to be a member of the Sun City Democrats Activist group, With Admiration, Trish Lopacki

Sun City Democrats thank Trish Lopacki and the Activists group.
